Providence Rest has cultivated an educational relationship with two local Colleges over the last several years. Our Social Service Department has provided internships for social work students at both the Baccalaureate and Masters levels. Iona College, Stony Brook University and Fordham University are currently utilizing our facility as a teaching and mentoring site. This educational alliance is a two way street. While we provide an opportunity for social workers to become educated and experienced in the field of Gerontology and Health, Providence Rest becomes a stimulus for systematic and reflective thinking about social work theory and practice. We create and educational relationship and environment, which is crucial for the learner. We are proud to provided this opportunity to those students who have a calling to serve the elderly and who want to carry forth our Mission.
