What options are available for my loved one who can no longer remain at home?

We understand how difficult it is to leave the comfort and safety of home. When long-term care is the best option, maintaining the highest possible level of physical, social, psychological and spiritual well-being for each resident is the core goal of Providence Rest's long-term care interdisciplinary team. We develop person-centered care plans for each resident based on assessment, observation, medical and social history, examination and testing. From the moment a resident is admitted, the care plan is created and continually revised based on progress, acclimation, decline and changing preferences.

Your loved one will be treated with dignity and respect, with access to top-quality care to ensure all of their needs are met. Services at Providence Rest include:

  • Physicians, nurses and aides are on duty 24 hours a day to provide all levels of care to our residents.
  • Dietitians develop individual meal plans based on resident preferences in accordance with dietary standards.
  • Social workers provide comfort and counseling for both residents and families in individual and group settings.
  • Physical, occupational and speech therapists work with residents to help them improve and maintain the activities of daily living.
  • Therapeutic recreation specialists nurture residents' interests, talents and hobbies, providing programs to enhance cognition and prevent isolation and depression. Computer workshops and games, art and music therapy, exercise groups, cooking and book clubs, and outside trips all contribute to engaging our residents in a lively existence at Providence Rest.
  • The sisters in our pastoral care department cater to our residents' and families' spiritual needs. They meet with residents both individually and in groups. They offer comfort and solace to residents and families when our residents are at the end of their journey. We also offer bereavement counseling to family members after the death of their loved one.

Can Providence Rest provide care for my loved one with dementia?

For those special patients suffering from dementia and related diseases, Providence Rest provides a level of care that promotes dignity, empathy and safety. Through the continuing education we provide, our staff has a thorough understanding of dementia – how it is identified, how it progresses, and how to work with residents suffering from the disease. We learn about our residents' life stories to connect with them. We communicate with empathy and live in the moment with them. We encourage opportunities for their self-expression. We work with their families to help them understand the dynamics of the disease process.
